The purpose of an Individual Development Plan (IDP) is to have a detailed action plan to guide your development of core role competencies, knowledge and skills in order to support effectiveness in your current role and preparedness for potential future positions. A documented action plan will help you develop skills to better meet objectives, contribute to performance improvement and potentially expand the scope of your role. An IDP is a valuable tool that assists in your development process and increases the likelihood of action being taken.
