Estimating Overview

The steps from estimating to being awarded a project should be as follows

  • Get Notified by Sales Rep of the need for a Proposal or Rough Estimate

  • Access Lead Opportunity From Buildertrend and review all Photos, files, and docs related to the project.

  • If a rough estimate is needed, develop it accordingly and provide it to sales rep

  • Once a Final Proposal is needed

  • Begin developing a proposal in the lead opportunity page accounting for all scopes and trades etc.

  • If multiple bids and costs are required (+/- 4 or more) convert proposal into job.

  • Develop a list of subs and vendors you will need to obtain bids from

  • Ensure all subs you plans to reach out to for a bid are in buildertrend

  • Create all bid packages within builder trend for all trades needed to track bids with needed photos, video or plans along with the detailed scope of work being requested

  • Send Subcontractor bid invitations from buildertrend

  • Coordinate Subcontractor project walkthroughs as needed

  • As bids come in add them into the bid sections in builder trend along with the contract/estimate/proposals from the subs

  • Qualify the bids or compare them to other bids to determine the cost and scope of work to be included in the Clients Proposal

  • Once you find a good bid or cost to use to include into the proposal, select that one

  • Develop the proposal once all line items are filled

  • complete estimate pre release form

  • Send proposal to client along with insurance information etc
